Check-up and X-rays
Why do regular Dental Check-ups matter?
Regular dental check-ups are essential for maintaining a healthy smile and preventing dental issues before they become serious. During these visits, your dentist can:
Detect problems early – such as cavities, gum disease, or oral cancer – when they’re easier and less costly to treat.
Keep your teeth clean and strong – by removing plaque and tartar that daily brushing can miss.
Provide expert advice – on your oral hygiene routine, diet, and habits like grinding or smoking.
Protect your overall health – since oral health is closely linked to conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
By visiting your dentist every 12 months, you’re investing in your long-term health and confidence. It’s a simple step that can make a big difference.
What do we do?
We take an x-ray on each side of your mouth to assess the back teeth then conduct a visual inspection to correlate what we are seeing on the x-rays to what we see in the mouth. The next step is checking your bite and jaw movements. Lastly, we assess the gums and soft tissue with a visual inspection and gentle probing. If appropriate, we will also take time to remove tartar, plaque and stains.
After the examination, we present our findings to you and come up with a treatment plan tailored to you to best address any dental issues.
How long does it take?
15-30 minutes, depending on if it's a recall or new check-up and the complexity of your dental needs.
