BSc Waikato, BDS Otago (Distinction)

Scott graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 2009 following the completion of a Science Degree majoring in Biology at the University of Waikato in 2003. Scott is born and bred in Whakatāne and has spent his entire dental career since graduation working in Whakatāne.

Scott takes a patient led approach to dentistry and is dedicated to finding a solution tailored to each individual patient’s needs.

When he’s not at work you’ll find him running around after his two daughters and enjoying the outdoor activities that our area has to offer.

BDS Otago (Distinction)

Laura graduated from the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 2019 and has called Whakatāne home since 2020.

She takes a gentle, down-to-earth approach to dentistry and is passionate about helping patients feel relaxed and confident in the chair.

When she’s not at work you’ll usually find Laura walking her dog on the beach, getting lost in a good book or spending time painting. She’s also a big fan of Pilates and a well made coconut latte.

DipDH Pretoria, SA

Marelize qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 1996 at the University of Pretoria. Gaining experience in Orthodontics, Periodontics, Prosthodondics and general Hygiene practice in South Africa before immigrating with her husband and two sons to New Zealand in 2019, calling Whakatāne home since then.

With her friendly demeanour and focus on finding the best dental hygiene plan for her patients, she will endeavour to make a dental hygiene visit a relaxing experience. As she dubs it: “A facial for your teeth”.

When not at work you will find her experimenting with new recipes, reading a book or out taking photos in nature.

BPharm Auckland (Honours)

Melissa graduated from the University of Auckland with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2006. Her family had always loved visiting Whakatāne, so when a pharmacist role became available in Kopeopeo nearly 20 years ago, she made the move and has called the area home ever since.

Originally assisting with the setup of the clinic, Melissa quickly took on the role of Practice Manager. She brings strong healthcare knowledge, organisation, and genuine care to every part of the practice.

Outside of work, Melissa loves being mum to her and Scott’s two daughters as well as their two dogs and cat.

Chontelle works on reception and as a Dental Assistant, bringing a positive, can‑do attitude that’s a delight for the whole team. She’s passionate about dentistry and always puts patients first — in fact, she loves her job so much she says she’ll never leave! Her warm, friendly manner instantly puts people at ease and makes every visit more comfortable.

Outside of work, Chontelle’s happy place is outdoors. She loves camping and fishing. She is also a proud mum to her four year old daughter, Laurie.

Neeve is one of our friendly Dental Assistants. She was born and raised in Whakatāne. She has received wonderful feedback from our patients for her seamless assistance to our dentists. She has a lovely, calm manner that helps put our patients at ease.

When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll find Neeve enjoying the beach and surfing.
